Little pockets produced big results on Sunday as children from all over the Peoria area saddled up in order to raise over $2,000 for Children's Hospital of Illinois. The event, held at Rocking C Day Camp and Stables, focused on the theme "Kids Helping Kids." Community children were educated about the importance of giving and encouraged to donate both monetarily as well as through the creation of crafts and cards for Children's Hospital patients.

A special event marking the "Last Basket" at Robertson Memorial Field House was held on March 27th.

The IHSA Boys Basketball Tournament is the premier high school sporting event in the nation.

Our roving photographer Bob Hunt was in the Windy City on Wednesday, September 12, to take in a White Sox game, where he caught local hero Jim Thome in action, hitting his 499th career home run.

The Peoria native and future Hall-of-Famer slugged his 500th homer against the Angels Sunday, leading the White Sox to a 9-7 victory.

Our mission was simple: to tell the story of 24 hours in Peoria, Illinois, a day in the life of the quintessential Midwestern town. This time, we took in a wide cross-section of area activities—from the races at the Peoria Speedway to drama at Corn Stock Theatre—and caught a beautiful sunset over the Illinois River at the IVY Club before ending the evening at two locations along the Peoria riverfront. Acclaimed musician Art Garfunkel took the Civic Center stage July 28, performing a mix of tunes, including classic Simon & Garfunkel hits. Also featured was his son, James Garfunkel.

The 20th Annual Proctor Cycling Classic we held Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1 with races in Chillicothe, Brimfield and downtown Peoria. The event featured various distance races, a hill climb competition and children's races.
